My dear friends of Jerusalem,

It seems to me that the whole world got squeezed into this city and every person I meet is a charismatic star. 

This month Hamshushalaim events were filling the weekends of Jerusalem. This word is composed of the Hebrew words for Thursday, Friday, Shabbat and Jerusalem. It gives an opportunity for people like me to enjoy the art scene and the food for little cost. My friend Itamar knew that even the Jerusalem based Dance Company Machol Shalem is performing at the Shivtey Israel Street.

Among the dancers I immediately recognized my Ulpan fellow Sergey, who, to my surprise, spoke French and gave a stunning performance of God on the stage.

After this impressive event we ended up in Uganda, a hipster bar in the San Francisco style at Aristobolus Street. Indie music and Taybeh beer stood in big contrast to the modern dance show and to the Holy City itself. Three worlds were contrasting, one with another. 

How am I supposed to know that the person sitting next to me is not another star of Jerusalem? You will probably not believe me but you can ask my friend Itamar. I took a pen and one of the flyers lying around and asked a dreadlocked guy next to me for an autograph. Itamar was laughing, the guy’s friends were stunned, and I got an autograph from maybe the next Idan Reichel of Jerusalem.

חבריי ירושלמים יקרים,

נדמה כי העולם כולו נדחק לתוך העיר ירושלים וכל אדם בו אני פוגשת מתגלה כאחד מכוכבי העיר..

סופי השבוע של חודש זה היו מלאים באירועי "חמשושלים". המילה "חמשושלים" הינה צירוף של המילים חמישי שישי שבת וירושלים.

האירועים הללו נותנים לאנשים כמוני הזדמנות ליהנות מהאומנות המקומית ומאוכל טוב בעלות יחסית נמוכה.

אחד מחבריי איתמר הוביל אותנו להופעה של להקת המחול "מחול שלם" שהופיעה ברחוב שבטי ישראל.

מבין שלל הרקדנים זיהיתי את חברי מהאולפן סרגיי שלהפתעתי דיבר צרפתית ונתן הופעה מדהימה של אלוהים על הבמה.

בסיומו של האירוע המרשים הגענו ל"אוגנדה", בר היפסטרי בסגנון סן פרנסיקו השוכן ברחוב אריסטובולוס. מוזיקת אינדי ובירה "טייבה" עמדו בניגוד גמור להופעת המחול המודרני ואף לעיר הקודש עצמה. שלושה עולמות השונים זה מזה התמזגו להם יחדיו.

איך למעשה אוכל לדעת שהאדם היושב לצידי אינו כוכב נוסף מכוכבי העיר ירושלים? בוודאי לא תאמינו לי- אך אתם מוזמנים לשאול את חברי איתמר. לקחתי עט ואת אחד הפליירים ששכב שם וביקשתי מבחור עם ראסטות לצידי חתימה. איתמר צחק, חבריו של הבחור היו המומים ואילו אני קיבלתי חתימה ממי שייתכן יהיה עידן רייכל הבא של ירושלים.
